91st Psalm Christian School

was established in 1984 as a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade program. 91st Psalm has been a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) since 1996. As a ministry of SouthGate Church of Phoenix, we are a Bible-based,  non-denominational, multi-cultural Christian school located at the foothills of South Mountain in the South Mountain Village Community. We strive to be a long-term asset to our community.

Mission

We believe that it is our God given responsibility to educate our children spiritually, morally, intellectually, and physically. Because of this, it is our mission to raise Godly servant leaders who will positively and eternally impact the world for Christ.

Class Size

Our student-to-teacher ratio is usually no more than 20:1. Our teachers have the opportunity to develop working relationships with each student and instruct each one according to their individual needs.

Environment

We foster a safe, disciplined, wholesome, peaceful, positive, and encouraging environment that nurtures lasting relationships.

Faculty/Staff

We have a team of quality, caring, and committed faculty members. Our average faculty/staff member has been a part of our school for ten years.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is  driven by STUDENT success, NOT testing success. Our teachers succeed in equipping students with the tools necessary to be successful in college and beyond. The focus is NOT about the next upcoming test; it is about students gaining mastery of the material they are taught. Our curriculum includes the following publishers: A Beka, Bob Jones University Press, and ACSI.

Why Christian education?

God’s Word is taught

“You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul …. And you shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.” (Deuteronomy 11:18-19) Not only is the Bible taught for what it IS – the inspired Word of God – but it forms the foundation of all our subjects and texts. As students pursue knowledge in a Christian setting, they are chasing after the knowledge of God. The results – wisdom and understanding – are the God-given rewards of academic achievement. A good student strives for this.

Academic Achievement

“A truly Christian education is possible only when Christian education underlies not a part, but all, of the curriculum of the school. True learning and true piety go hand in hand, and Christianity embraces the whole of life – those are great central convictions that underlie the Christian school.”
-J. Gresham Machen.

Students in Christian schools consistently out-perform their public school peers. Their standardized test scores are significantly above the curve, in reading, writing, and mathematics. As a result, they are better prepared for college. A Christian education is a superior education.

Individual Attention

Christian schools tend to have smaller class sizes. Students have the opportunity to actively and meaningfully participate in their own instruction. They grow the ability to problem solve through critical thinking, gain the valuable experience of sharing their thoughts and opinions in a public forum, and cultivate a world view that is honoring to God.
